Value Engineering
SunBelt Construction Services, Inc., has provided
project value engineering to several municipal clients.
The most significant cost improvements are based upon
designs that reduce manpower requirements to construct
timber bridges. At SunBelt, timber bridge designs are an
economic blending of materials, manpower, construction
methods and equipment to achieve a low cost high quality
product. These value-engineering principles were
successfully applied with clients throughout Florida
with most recent at the City of Lakeland for Lake Bonny
and earlier at the Peterson Park projects.
Change Order
Negotiation
SunBelt’s detailed scope of work is designed to minimize
change orders, especially when the project is a
design/build structure. When project modifications
occur, Sunbelt field personnel notify, identify and
provide specific data to Senior Project Committee for
their review and input. If the modification is
determined to be outside of project scope, documentation
is generated and submitted to the client for review.
SunBelt will work with the Client to resolve issue to
keep the project on schedule and within budget. SunBelt
Construction Services will not perform the increased
scope of work without client’s written approval.
Claims Management
Although project claims are rare, SunBelt Construction
Services, Inc. Senior Project Committee provides
immediate response to issues as they occur. Internal
procedures provide for collection of pertinent claims
data, timely review and response to all parties
associated with the issue at hand.
Warranty Follow-up
SunBelt Construction Services, Inc., provides a three
(3) year warranty on all workmanship for timber
structures. Routine post construction activities provide
two (2) site visits following construction. The site
visits are conducted at six and twelve month intervals
to inspect the structure for compliance to design
criteria. Additional future maintenance can be purchased
up to ten (10) years duration.
Relevant Specialized
Experience
Although timber bridge structure repairs/upgrades
represent a small percent age of Sunbelt Construction
Services, Inc., business, these activities are provided
to some clients. The repairs/upgrades on 5-ton and less
timber structures include handrail, curb, deck and
support system removal and replacements. Heavy
maintenance (10-ton) and Vehicular Timber Bridge (20-ton
plus) wear deck removal and replacement is most
frequently requested. Recently, Sunbelt Construction
Services, Inc. provided these services for SWFMD in
Inverness, FL, Westchase (Glencliff and Radcliff) Park
bridges and Lake Monroe for Seminole County.
