SunBelt's Design/Build approach to construction

We at Sunbelt Construction Services Inc. specialize in the design & construction of heavy timber structures throughout the Southeastern United States. For those projects in need of a full project conceptual and / or structural design, Sunbelt Construction Services Inc. has the ability to provide full construction drawings with all necessary load and pile driving calculations to keep your project costs down and provide a turn key project completion I would like to take this time to provide some further description of our design / construction methods.

Design

SunBelt Construction Services works to create an affordable timber structure in a time frame acceptable to our client, by using product designs and select critical materials that minimize project costs without sacrificing the product quality or structural integrity. We continually investigate new structural designs and construction techniques by constant review and evaluation of material, equipment, manpower and methods to enhance design-build techniques and services. Our typical design and in turn our competitive advantage over much of our competition is our “Build from the Top” design. This design method allows us to design a structure that will allow for our construction crew to move all equipment, material and personnel on the top of the structure as we build bent length by bent length from start to completion. This design method allows for the most environmentally friendly installation of these type structures. Once on top of the structure we utilize various sized excavators and vibratory hammers (Dependant on each structure desired load rating) to drive the pile into the ground until minimum refusal is met (Typically 8 to 10 ft or more depending on soil makeup). With regards to any structure designed by SunBelt, provided for each one are detailed construction sealed engineered drawings by a certified structural engineer licensed within the state where the construction on your project that includes specifications for sheer, wind, live loads, etc. SunBelt’s structural designs are project specific using the site locations unique conditions for items such as structure elevations, access points, fresh/salt/brackish water, etc. Incorporated into the design is the state of the art blending of materials, equipment, construction methods and manpower to ensure the client receives the most cost effective highest quality product for their project expenditure. The key factor is to provide a long lasting structure at the lowest overall cost.

Construction

As stated in the design section, we at SunBelt utilize a "built from top" construction method for bridge / boardwalk construction using a vibratory hammer attached to an excavator to drive pile to refusal. Building from the top down is advantageous as this construction technique provides the most effective environmental protection to the site because we do not have to have our equipment on the ground in environmentally sensitive areas except for minimal foot traffic in the structures path there is no disturbance to any of the surrounding areas. . If we are able to continue driving pile then we splice one pile on top of another and continue to drive the pile. We also use pile caps as opposed to under-supports. Pile-caps are heavier timbers and are more easily attached and structurally sound as well as eliminating adding more components to the mix that could fail. Overall, our company uses more high quality, heavy timbers that allow more efficient construction.
