Pedestrian Timber Bridges & Timber
Boardwalks
This type of timber
structure use is identical to golf course designs, but is
found predominately in municipal parks and recreational
areas and zoological environments with a wide variety of
structure width and load bearing capabilities.
Peterson Park, Timber
Pedestrian Bridges & Timber Boardwalks
At Peterson Park, SunBelt
Construction Services routed a 1,100’ linear foot boardwalk
through bluffs, treetops (26 feet above ground) and lakes to
provide a scenic amenity to the community. The project was
originally bid at a cost of $545,000.00 and through SunBelt
Constructions design/build value engineering the budget cost
plummeted to $300,000.00. Therefore meeting the City’s
budgeting requirements. Project built on time and within
budget.
Live Oak, Timber
Pedestrian Boardwalk
At
Live Oak, a project originally planned utilizing Florida DOT
design incorporating mostly 2 x construction materials.
Through Sunbelt Construction’s design/build process we were
able to provide a higher quality structurally stronger
product and at the same time ultimately reduced the total
project cost. Sunbelt Construction built a total of 1108
linear feet of boardwalk six feet wide at a total cost below
budget.
Seven Oak, Timber
Boardwalk
For
Seven Oaks, Sunbelt Construction provided just over 800
linear feet of timber pedestrian boardwalk for the Seven
Oaks community in Tampa, Florida. All construction was built
from the top of the timber structure and therefore had no
impact on the surrounding environmentally sensitive areas.
The project called for a sixty foot laminated timber bean to
create a
free span timber bridge structure over a waterway. After
the timber abutments for the bridge were built the free span
laminated bean was lower into place and anchored. Project
was completed ahead of schedule and with in budget.
Radcliff, Pedestrian
Timber Bridge
For
the Radcliff project in 2005 Sunbelt Construction was
contacted by the Westchase community to renovate their
existing bridge structure. This project involved the
demolition of the existing bridge structure leaving only the
piles and stringers remaining. From this point Sunbelt was
able to design a new timber bridge structure utilizing
alternate timber composite materials to create a more modern
appeal. Sunbelt’s design team worked closely with the client
to incorporate two new platforms within the old bridge
structure. This project was one of three phases to be
completed and was done within budget.
Glencliff, Timber
Boardwalk
In
addition to the new bridge structure for the community of
Westchase, Sunbelt Construction was contracted to renovate
their existing timber boardwalk. This involved the
demolition of existing boardwalk leaving only the piles and
stringers. Through Sunbelt’s design/build process the
boardwalk was rebuilt using alternate timber composite
materials. A total of 740 linear feet of boardwalk was
constructed with this alternate timber composite material.
This renovation brought the reconditioned boardwalk within
compliance of ADA requirements. This was the second of three
phases and was completed on time and within budget.
Seminole Trails, Timber
Boardwalk
SunBelt
Construction Services constructed a 12’ wide 2 mile trail
through wetlands using top down building method with several
benches and scenic overlooks. The project was completed well
under schedule and within the County’s budget.
Charlotte County Parks; Tippe Canoe, Timber
Boardwalk
SunBelt Construction
constructed a total of eight pedestrian boardwalks and
fishing piers for Charlotte County Parks Department. The
boardwalks and piers were built in highly environmentally
sensitive areas which required construction to be “built
from the top” with respect for the surroundings. Project
built on time and within budget.
Charlotte County Parks; Oyster Creek, Timber
Pedestrian Bridge
SunBelt Construction
constructed a total of eight pedestrian boardwalks and
fishing piers for Charlotte County Parks Department. The
boardwalks and piers were built in highly environmentally
sensitive areas which required construction to be “built
from the top” with respect for the surroundings. Project
built on time and within budget.
Reed Canal, Pedestrian
Timber Bridge
SunBelt Construction worked
with the County to reduce their budget with a SunBelt
design. We designed a diamond shaped fishing platform in the
center of the pier. The project was completed ahead of
schedule and within budget.
