Studies of Timber Construction Structures
Timber
Construction at Peterson Park
Project Summary
Project
location offered extreme elevation challenges with terrain
that was dredged fill dirt piled in hills with absolutely no
flat areas throughout boardwalk path. Polk county officials
recognized the many construction difficulties and required
mandatory prebid meeting and site visit by all interested
Construction Company’s. Approximately 15 company’s attended
both the prebid meeting and site visit, but only two
company’s elected to offer quotations to under take this
undulating challenge. Although the county budget was
projected at $300,000.00 both bids exceeded the forecast. A
revised engineered design was produced and constructed
resulting the projects on time completion and within
budgeted funds.
